Dove Hunting in Iowa Update: Lead Shot Ban Lifted

As a follow-up to our story on the lead shot controversy for dove hunting in Iowa (http://www.gundogmag.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=876&action=edit) :

According to Guns.com, the Legislature's Administrative Rules Review Committee (ARRC) recently lifted the lead-shot ban for the 2011 in a 9-1 vote. The newly created dove season begins Sept. 1 and runs for 70 days. Now with the ability to legally shoot lead shot for the entirety of the season, dove hunters can hang on to their traditional ammo boxes and not have to turn to steel or other non-toxic shot. The debates over lead shot will most certainly live on regardless, but for now lead remains a shot option for the brand-new dove season.
