Amazing Dog Photos from the 2014 Iditarod

by Gun Dog Online Staff   |  March 16th, 2014 2

At the 2014 Iditarod, the bond between a man and his dog runs deep. It’s about more than stick fetching and belly rubs—it’s about relying on one another to survive in one of the harshest environments imaginable.

The Iditarod is the ultimate sled dog trail race, spanning between nine and 15 days and taking its toll on the best mushers on the planet. The race starts in Anchorage, Alaska, and ends in Nome.

As is often the case, a blizzard and howling winds affected the ending of the 2014 race. The giant storm knocked a few leaders off the pace, and Dallas Seavey was able to push ahead for the win, finishing in a record time of eight days and 13 hours.

Like all the finishers, Seavey relied on a team of outstanding dogs to get him across the finish line. Check out all the best photos from the Iditarod.

Watch the record-setting finish by Dallas Seavey on “Iditarod Unleashed,” only on Sportsman Channel. The show series—which follows all the events of the epic race—airs March 25-28 and March 31-April 1 on Sportsman Channel.

What the heck – trying to advance the pictures and just keeps changing the ads. Refreshed and refreshed, just the same thing. Is this all about ads or a story?
